Cosmetic Ink Removal Aftercare
Please review these instructions carefully after each PMU removal session. Following these guidelines will support optimal healing and the best possible results.
During Laser Treatment
- Cosmetic ink will oxidize. This can cause your ink to turn darker or different colors such as: black, grey, orange, yellow, pink, red.
- Eyebrow hair is not compromised during your treatments.
After Treatment
- Swelling, tenderness, and redness are common and can last for up to 72 hours.
- Apply a thin layer of unscented moisturizer/Aquaphor regularly to allow tissue to heal.
- Keep area clean.
- This is a gradual process, and often times range from 1–4 treatments.
- Dryness and flaking might occur.
- Blisters sometimes appear. If this happens, do not prematurely rupture, pick, or scratch. Keep the area clean and moisturized.
- Ink will continue to oxidize and change over the next few weeks.
Avoid
- No contaminated waters (oceans, lakes, pools, hot tubs, bath tubs) for the first 7 days.
- No UV exposure, including tanning beds, while continuing treatments.
- No cosmetic products on eyebrows for 24 hours.
- No Retinol/Retin-A products on treated area.
- No physical activity or exercising for the first 24 hours after treatment.
How Can I Speed Up The Process?
- Stay hydrated — drink lots of water.
- Exercise will increase blood flow and help your body dispose of ink particles more quickly.
- Avoid smoking, as it inhibits blood flow and circulation.
- After the area has healed, massage it. This will help break up the ink particles even more.
Notes
- Ink will oxidize throughout your treatment and will often change to different colors and even appear darker. This is completely normal and part of the process.
